PHYSIOTHERAPY
Restoring function and mobility using the application of manual therapies, electrophysical agents and therapeutic movement.
What to expect ...
Physiotherapy forms the basis of all treatment plans.
New patients will undergo a thorough initial assessment with a fully qualified veterinary physiotherapist when they first arrive at our centre. The assessment process consists of a thorough history discussion, gait analysis and hands on palpation. From this, the optimum treatment plan will be developed with consideration of your dog's medical history, current symptoms/ diagnosis and the goals of treatment.
Your dog’s well-being will always be at the forefront of our decisions.
Manual therapies
Manual techniques applied to specific areas of dysfunction and/ or restriction to release and mobilise tissues through methods of massage, myofascial release, passive range of motion, stretching and joint mobilisations.
Electrophyscial Agents
We may utilise electrotherapies to aid our treatments when targeting specific tissues. Therapies we offer include low-level laser, therapeutic ultrasound, PEMF, TENS/ NMES and thermal therapies. Safety and contraindications will always be discussed prior to the application of electrotherapies.
Therapeutic Exercise
Exercise prescription is an important part of physiotherapy treatment to help restore function and maintain independence. Progressive exercise plans are developed depending on the specific needs of the patient with consideration to the handler and home environment.
